Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. She and her family relocated out of the country when she was three. Summer attended British and American schools during the time her family moved abroad. returning to her home town of Pasadena just before her birthday of 14. Summer was just five years old when she discovered her passion for acting and enrolled in her first acting class. Nine months after, she signed a contract with an agent/manager to begin her full-time job. She is enrolled in college in off days, working on her degree. She was among the stars who were young in VanityFair's August 2008 cover article, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Hottest Kids in Hollywood". At age 14 Bishil began to take acting classes. Within a year she was signed with an agent and manager. Bishil started her career with the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed a contract with a manager and an agency. Her most memorable role was in the film of Alan Ball, Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the novel with the same title. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate who praised Bishil's performance was "the most honest thing" in the film which, despite its best intentions made it feel fake and mildly embarrassing. It was as if it was an extended PSA on inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is one of the most natural film actress ever. Gary Goldstein, in a September 12, Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead noted that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) is a stunning and captivating performance as Jasira. In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. She was in the role of Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel never released.
