Anita Ekberg

 

Kerstin Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29 September 1931 - 11 January 2015) was an Swedish actress most well-known for her stunning body and stunning beauty. Her iconic character of Sylvia in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita (1960) made her famous. Ekberg mostly worked in Italy and became an permanent resident in 1964.Anita Ekberg was born on 29 September 1931, in (Sweden) she was the sixth of eight children. Anita was a model for fashion in her teenage years. As per the requests by her mother, Ekberg took part in Miss Malmo in 1950. She won the Miss Sweden contest. Even though she spoke very little English Ekberg travelled to the United States to compete in the Miss Universe 1951 title. It was an unofficial pageant at the time. The pageant became official in 1952. Ekberg didn't win the Miss Universe pageant. However she was among the six finalist. Universal Studios offered her an opportunity to be a starlet. She was an Universal starlet, and was given lessons in dramatization, elocution dance horses, horseback riding and elocution. The film she appeared in was The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello (as the woman in Venus), Take Me to Town (1853), and The Golden Blade (1953).
