Renee Kathleen Zellweger

Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on the 25th of April 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen) is a Norwegian-born former nurse and midwife, with Norwegian, Kven (Finnish), and Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a Swiss engineer. They were married in the year 1963. Drew Zellweger is Renee's brother and was born on February 15, 1967. Renee was interested in acting during high school while working on the drama group. She also took an acting class at the University of Texas (Austin) in Austin, and then began looking towards acting as a career. She was keen to pursue acting after graduation. However, Hollywood can be difficult to get into which is why Renee determined to remain in Texas and attempt to audition for roles in Houston. She was able to land roles in films such as Reality Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey (another Hollywood rising star) was her close friend when she was working on the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre II: The Next Generation (1994). Renee was aware that he was working on a film and auditioned. The role was given to her in Love as well as an offer of a 45 (1994). This earned her enough praise that she relocated to Los Angeles. Another part in The Whole Wide World (1996) was the next one, which eventually led to her first big break. Cameron Crowe was busy casting his next film, Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at actresses like Bridget Fonda (Camden Diaz), Winona Ryder (Winona Ryder), and Marisa Tomei. Then he saw Zellweger's performance in The Whole Wide World (1996). He had a chance to audition Zellweger and was convinced he'd discovered the perfect Dorothy Boyd. Renee was able to follow her massive popularity with a few independent films and after receiving more praise from critics and confidence, she decided to reenter the realm of large-budget Hollywood films. She was in the film alongside Meryl Streep in the tearjerker One True Thing (1998). She also starred opposite Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and began dating Carrey soon afterward.
