Thora Birch

Thora Birch was born March 11th 1983. She is an American producer, actress, and director. She made her film debut in Purple People Eater (1988) which earned her an Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years Old". Birch became famous as a child star and appeared in films such as All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996).Her first big role was in 1999 when she played Jane Burnham in the highly critically acclaimed film American Beauty, for which she was awarded an BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She then starred as Enid in the cult hit Ghost World (2001), winning a nomination for Golden Globe for Best Actress. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance as the title role in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. Birch has also starred in Dungeons & Dragons (2000) and The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004) and Dark Corners (2006). She was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003. Birch was also a part of Whisperer Mary or Gamma in season 10 of The Walking Dead (2019-2020). Birch was the oldest child born to Jack Birch (and Carol Connors) in Los Angeles. Birch, whose family originally had the surname Biersch is German-Jewish as well as Scandinavian. Birch also has French-Canadian, French, and Italian roots. "Thora" is her birth name. It's derived from the Norse god Thor who is the god of thunder and lightning. If it were a boy, she would have had her full name. Kian Bolt Birch who is her younger brother, is also her mother. Both are former adult film actors and were both actors in Deep Throat. They were not keen to support Thora because of their experience in the entertainment industry. But a babysitter noticed Thora acting out commercials, and convinced them to show Thora’s photo to agents. Her first break came at the age of four, when her babysitter took her along to an audition for the Quaker Oats commercial.
